The Future Begins Here

About Us

At our elementary schools, the future begins with a strong foundation in learning. We focus on building essential early literacy and math skills, while fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. With supportive teachers, engaging classrooms, and programs that nurture the whole child, we prepare our youngest learners for academic success and personal growth.

Meg

Dear Thorpe Families,

It is with a heart full of both deep gratitude and gentle sadness that I write to share some personal news. After much reflection and listening to the quiet tugs of my heart, I have decided to retire at the conclusion of this school year.

While I am looking forward to a new chapter filled with personal adventures and a slower, more reflective pace, saying goodbye to this beautiful community is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It has been my distinct honor to serve the Thorpe community over the past four years. When I look back on our time together, I am overwhelmed by the memories we have woven. Watching your children grow, navigate challenges with resilience, and discovering the magic of their own unique voices has been the greatest privilege of my professional life.

Quite simply, they have filled my days with an abundance of love, joy and pride. Whether it was the quiet triumph of a breakthrough in the classroom, a spontaneous moment of kindness on the playground, or the nervous, beautiful excitement of a school performance (which always brings a tear to my eye), your children have been my constant inspiration. They have taught me just as much as I have taught them. A school is not merely a building; it is a living, breathing family, and Thorpe is truly rare. I want to express my deepest gratitude to our wonderful scholars. Thank you for your boundless curiosity, your infectious laughter, your perseverance, your warm greetings and hugs. Thank you for reminding me every single day of the pure joy of learning.

Parents and guardians, thank you for your unwavering partnership, your trust, and for sharing the precious gift of your children with us every day. And to our amazing staff, thank you for your tireless commitment, your brilliant minds, and your ability to bring sunshine and smiles to even the most challenging days. You are the heartbeat of Thorpe. While I look forward to the new horizons that retirement promises, a piece of my heart will always remain right here. Every day at Thorpe has been a beautiful adventure.

I am excited to announce that the new Thorpe principal will be Dr. Kerri Braun, who is coming from Garfield Elementary. Dr. Braun brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a warm heart, which will ensure a seamless and loving transition for the school's next chapter. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the privilege of letting me walk alongside your children. It has been a journey I will carry with me forever.

With my warmest affection and enduring gratitude,

Meg Greene
